Amazing Facts is a ministry dedicated to Christian evangelism. It produces both daily and weekly radio and television programs which are broadcast worldwide. The ministry is also a publisher of books, periodicals, Bible study courses and more which are offered in print and online. The ministry is based on the teachings of Scripture, and especially focuses on the Three Angels’ Messages of Revelation 14.
Founded by Pastor Joe Crews in 1965, the original objective for Amazing Facts was to reach out to both Christian and non-Christian listeners via daily 15-minute radio programs. Each program featured an “amazing fact” from the world of science or history and revealed how it applied to the Bible. In 1987, Amazing Facts initiated a television ministry that has expanded to multiple programs as well as periodic evangelism series.
Shortly before his death in 1994, Crews invited Doug Batchelor to assume the position of president for the Amazing Facts ministry. Christian author and speaker Doug Batchelor has experienced great extremes. His journey from anti-social, drug-using hermit to soul-winning evangelist has helped shape him into an engaging, popular speaker whom audiences all over the world can identify with and understand clearly even on the most complex Bible topics. As the teenage son of an aviation tycoon and philanthropist father and a show business mother, young Doug Batchelor had everything money could buy. Yet true peace and happiness eluded him. He was a troubled youth who fought at school and even entertained suicidal fantasies. Eventually Doug ran away from home by the time he was just 15 years old. Disgusted with his life and convinced it had no real meaning, Doug was determined to experience the humanistic lifestyle with reckless abandon. He turned to drugs, committed crimes, and spent time in jail. He ended up becoming a recluse, living in a remote cave high in the mountains above Palm Springs. And even though his father owned a yacht, a jet, and a Rolls-Royce, Doug found himself scavenging for food in garbage bins.
One day Doug found a dust-covered Bible and a miracle of transformation occurred. Today, Pastor Doug Batchelor is an energetic speaker of vision and deep spirituality, with an unusual ability to communicate not only to church-oriented people, but also to the secular-minded. His spontaneous, lively humor and down-to-earth approach to living the Christian life engages and reaches hearts in a relevant and dynamic way.
