Every year Americans celebrate freedom on July 4. We praise our forefathers for having the courage to create a Declaration of Independence. We treasure our freedom. We honor the many soldiers who have died to protect it. Our government invests heavily in a military to guard this freedom. But freedom is not free, nor is it guaranteed. Many on this planet don’t even know what freedom is.

Most people today are not aware they are living in bondage. Yet, we are all subjected to the presence and tragedy of sin. Ever since Adam and Eve left paradise, this world has been dominated by the power of evil. As long as we are on this earth, none of us will be free from the constant terrible effects and presence of sin. But thank God we can be set free from the power of sin. However we all continue living as slaves. Romans 6:16 states we are slaves and the only thing we can do is choose our master. “Now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God.” Romans 6:22 NIV

Only when we choose God as our master can we experience true freedom in Jesus. “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36 NIV. But billions around this planet are not aware of that! Unknowingly they continue to serve Satan who enslaves them in cruel bondage. You and I must help them.
