Thank God for Freedom

In 1776 a group of 56 men, from 13 colonies got together to sign a significant document declaring freedom from tyranny, oppression and despotism. Among them were farmers, lawyers, physicians, merchants, two scientists, a printer, a military officer, a surveyor and a minister. They outlined the founding principles for a new nation in a document called the Declaration of Independence. It states that all men are created equal, and endowed by their Creator with the Rights to Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. Every year Americans celebrate freedom on July 4. This year our nation celebrates 250 years since the proclamation stating liberty for all.

This Independence Day, LifeTalk Radio pays tribute to our forefathers, who under God formed the identity of America, as the land of the free and the home of the brave. For 250 years this republic has continued to champion liberty and freedom. We praise our forefathers for having the courage to create the Declaration of Independence. We treasure our freedom. We honor the many soldiers who have died to protect it. Our government invests heavily in a military to guard this freedom. But freedom is not free, nor is it guaranteed. Many on this planet don’t even know what freedom is.

Over 6,000 years ago, this planet was created by God. But an evil power took control of this world, resulting in tyranny, oppression, destruction and death. And today that battle still rages. On this war torn planet we continue to see the struggle between good and evil, between slavery and freedom, between sickness and health, between life and death. Behind the scenes unseen forces are at work. But most people today are not aware they are living in bondage. In fact, all of us are daily subjected to the presence and tragedy of sin. It’s all around us.

Ever since Adam and Eve left paradise, this world has been dominated by the power of evil. As long as we are on this earth, none of us will be free from the constant terrible effects and presence of sin. But thank God we can be set free from the power of sin. However we all continue living as slaves. Romans 6:16 states we are slaves and the only thing we can do is choose our master. “Now you are free from the power of sin and have become slaves of God.” Romans 6:22 NIV. In John chapter 14, Jesus says, “Let not your heart be troubled” because ultimately good with triumph. Right now, He is building mansions for all who desire to live in ETERNAL freedom!

Only when we choose God as our master can we experience true freedom in Jesus. “So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed.” John 8:36 NIV. But billions around this planet are not aware of that! Unknowingly they continue to serve Satan who enslaves them in cruel bondage. You and I must help them. LifeTalk Radio exists to spread the Good News that freedom can be found in Jesus. We need your help to continue to share this Gospel to a greater circle of listeners. I invite you to partner with us to let the world know there is a remedy to the slavery of sin. Please give now and help those in the bondage of sin to find Jesus through the air waves. Help LifeTalk Radio connect people with Christ.
